Tired of Blogger

Ok so im going to say I'm officially tired of Blogger. We're over. I have opened a Wordpress blog here which I plan to use for the more fun stuff and I'll leave this for my geeky stuff. It's hard to do both on the same blog. If I had any potential client look me up I'd want him/her to at least see serious stuff. Hence, the split into 2 blogs, one for entertainment/fun stuff and one for techie stuff. I'll keep my techie stuff here on Blogger BUT will be transferring it to wordpress on my temikolawole.com domain (which points here currently). Blogger just straight up sucks. I dont care how you look at it or how many gadgets/widgets/boxes/applications Blogger lets you use. It's nothing compared to the thousands of tricks I can pull on Wordpress. I'm gonna have my own personal wordpress blog soon that I can do whatever I want with and put up whatever photo galleries, music and anything entirely on. Wait, shd it be the other way around....make this my fun blog and make my wordpress blog techie? Hmmm...naah. I'll eventually move the other one to another domain, that's what I'll do.

As a new Wordpress guru (lol) I just feel so held back and hindered by this gross looking Blogger layout. Not even my "cool" dirty background can make me like it. And yes I know I can customize this Blogger blog however I want but the whole New template/Old template thing is just annoying.

Future Pagerank Trick no longer working

Ok so a while back I read about a Future Pagerank trick to let you make your Google Toolbar read PR values from the most up-to-date Google PR server by adding this to your hosts file:

72.14.255.17 toolbarqueries.google.com

Well my firefox Google PR bar had stopped working for a while and I couldn't figure out why. It was working in IE though, so I went to remove the hosts file hack and my PR starts working again. Hmm. Have I been posting a lot about Pagerank lately? LOL.

Google PageRank Update July 27 2008

Ok so I don't know if this is real but it seems a Google Pagerank update is going on. I just saw a PR0 page become PR2. Another update had been due anyway and I had even done a search last week to see if there had been any. I just had that feeling there was an update round the corner. Maybe Im starting to get a psychic PR-sense. LOL.

Obama's leaked prayer

Barack Obama visited the western wall in Jerusalem shortly before dawn this Thursday. Once again, I just wish America would realise how gracious this man is. Here is how his prayer went:

"Lord, protect my family and me, Forgive me my sins and help me guard against pride and despair. Give me the wisdom to do what is right and just. And make me an instrument of your will."

Wow. None of it had any direct requests for victory in the coming elections, and his first and foremost concern was safety of his family. We all know being black and running for President of America isn't the safest thing to do.

I wonder what John McCain's prayer in that same situation would say.

Google doesn't know how to monetize YouTube

The TimesOnline (UK) published an article saying Google doesn't know how to monetize Youtube. Wooooooow, that's all I have to say. A whole Google doesn't know how to monetize YouTube? The biggest video website in the world?

They should borrow Youtube to me for 1 week, just 1 week, and I promise you I'll retire afterwards.

There are more than enough ways to monetize YouTube, some of which are:
  1. Paid memberships/premium services - whatever premium services YouTube decides to offer, people will buy, but this should be a last resort.
  2. In-Video ads - I thought they already did this, or maybe they're chasing some bigger form of income that this isnt generating yet.
  3. Pre & Post video ads
  4. Text & Banner advertising - I mean, didn't Google become the empire it is today due to Banner & Text Ad income?
  5. Here's the interesting one. Youtube could dive into cable TV. I mean if there was some sort of interactive channel on my Comcast where I could search for & view YouTube video organised the same way it is on the site, that will be golden. That will give Google dominance of the new user-generated TV world.
Google better open its eyes and figure out how to churn out money from YouTube, so my stock can increase in value. :) A 500% increase won't be bad :)

Cristano Ronaldo should stay at Old Trafford

Now I don't know how this all started but to me this dude should stay at Old Trafford. I'm not only saying this as a Man Utd fan, but as someone who thinks moving to Real Madrid will be Ronaldo's biggest mistake ever.

Fine, he might do well at Real, but if you look at all the players who have ever moved from Man Utd to Real Madrid, the move has always been the last sensible move they'll ever make. Ronaldo is too young to move to Real, and since he's currently at Man Utd, theres no better place he could be. Whether you like it or not, or however you want to look at it, Man Utd is the best club in Europe. Yeah I said it. Moving to Real will be a step back for Ronaldo.

The thing is, Man Utd isn't one of those clubs you leave while things are good. As long as a player is in good terms with Fergie, and is playing well, moving wont be a very good idea.

Let's look at some of the players who have moved from Man Utd to Real.
  1. David Beckham
Age at time of move: 28
Becks moved to Madrid after a very long and successful time at Man Utd. We all know how things went for him at Madrid. He did well on arrival but things slowly died down for him. Madrid was his career downhill.
  2. Ruud van Nistelrooy
Age at time of move: 30
His peak was definitely at Man Utd but cos of his rife with Fergie, headed to Madrid. He did do well at Madrid though but had injuries his 2nd season. He just had his contract extended to 2010.
Now Ronaldo, who is 23, might be ending his lucky spree and starting his downhill if he moves to Madrid.

People are already speclating Cristano Ronaldo might win the 2008 FIFA World Player Award, but also fear the award is rarely given to players in the English Premier League. Is this why Ronaldo wants to move to Real? Or are his desires to move culturally motivated? Does he want to be closer to home? Warmer weather? I dont think culture plays that big a role when it comes to what club a player plays for. Players are found to blend well into the strangest leagues as long as the pay is right and conditions are good.

To sum it up, I feel Ronaldo shouldn't be hasty about his move to Madrid, and should stay at Old Trafford for a few more seasons, at least 2, then he can move to Madrid. I dont think its the right time for him to move.

On the other hand, I feel Fergie cant force him to stay if he wants to leave so bad, and he might not give his best at Man Utd. Man Utd might have to start looking at a good replacement for Ronaldo with the £60m Madrid is offering. I mean Sep Blatter has already called Ronaldo a "modern-day slave" and Ronaldo has agreed with his statement. I just feel it will be in his best interest to stay a few more seasons.
