Now I don't know how this all started but to me this dude should stay at Old Trafford. I'm not only saying this as a Man Utd fan, but as someone who thinks moving to Real Madrid will be Ronaldo's biggest mistake ever.
Fine, he might do well at Real, but if you look at all the players who have ever moved from Man Utd to Real Madrid, the move has always been the last sensible move they'll ever make. Ronaldo is too young to move to Real, and since he's currently at Man Utd, theres no better place he could be. Whether you like it or not, or however you want to look at it, Man Utd is the best club in Europe. Yeah I said it. Moving to Real will be a step back for Ronaldo.
The thing is, Man Utd isn't one of those clubs you leave while things are good. As long as a player is in good terms with Fergie, and is playing well, moving wont be a very good idea.
Let's look at some of the players who have moved from Man Utd to Real.
- David Beckham
Age at time of move: 28
Becks moved to Madrid after a very long and successful time at Man Utd. We all know how things went for him at Madrid. He did well on arrival but things slowly died down for him. Madrid was his career downhill.
- Ruud van Nistelrooy
Age at time of move: 30
His peak was definitely at Man Utd but cos of his rife with Fergie, headed to Madrid. He did do well at Madrid though but had injuries his 2nd season. He just had his contract extended to 2010.
Now Ronaldo, who is 23, might be ending his lucky spree and starting his downhill if he moves to Madrid.
People are already speclating Cristano Ronaldo might win the 2008 FIFA World Player Award, but also fear the award is rarely given to players in the English Premier League. Is this why Ronaldo wants to move to Real? Or are his desires to move culturally motivated? Does he want to be closer to home? Warmer weather? I dont think culture plays that big a role when it comes to what club a player plays for. Players are found to blend well into the strangest leagues as long as the pay is right and conditions are good.
To sum it up, I feel Ronaldo shouldn't be hasty about his move to Madrid, and should stay at Old Trafford for a few more seasons, at least 2, then he can move to Madrid. I dont think its the right time for him to move.
On the other hand, I feel Fergie cant force him to stay if he wants to leave so bad, and he might not give his best at Man Utd. Man Utd might have to start looking at a good replacement for Ronaldo with the £60m Madrid is offering. I mean Sep Blatter has already called Ronaldo a "modern-day slave" and Ronaldo has agreed with his statement. I just feel it will be in his best interest to stay a few more seasons.
